How do I connect Management Console to a Vertica database?

I installed MC in a virtual machine, and am monitoring 2 clusters. The MC install went fine, and I can log in to monitor the clusters. But after a few minutes in the browser, I get this error: “Management Console cannot connect to embedded Vertica database”. I checked the MC log and can see a lot of warnings for connection failure. I tried using admintools for the embedded Vertica but could not locate the license file.
