Why does Vertica 6 not support LVM?

The vertica 6.0 supported platforms document states: "Note that Vertica 6 does not support Linux Logical Volume Manager (LVM)." Why is this?

    Our concern with LVM is file corruption. For Vertica database data and catalog disks, we do not test it and have concerns with (and have seen) file corruption. There is a product feature request to support LVM but no target date.
