As the title says: is it safe to open 5433 to the public Internet?

    Based on our documentation we that the port is tcp enabled for inside and outside the database. Here is the detail from our Installation guide: Vertica requires that port 5433 be available for use for client connectivity (vsql, ODBC,JDBC,etc). Ensure that 5433 is TCP-enabled on all hosts for connections inside and outside the database. This includes making sure that all of the following are correctly configured or disabled. Firewalls — not recommended for database hosts SELinux (Security-Enhanced Linux) iptables Please refer to the Installation guide for additional questions.
