Installing on EC2

Hi there, I'm trying to install a Vertica cluster on a set of Amazon EC2 instances. I believe I finally got through my issues with user permissions but am running into other issues; before I go much further, thought I should ask.. is there an easier way for me to get up and running using your preconfigured amazon machine images? If so, where can I go to look for documentation on getting started that way?

  • Actually I'm a bit further now and seem to have gotten past my permissions issues. Now I'm getting another error: "Error parsing validation output: No JSON object could be decoded Validation output: sudo: /opt/vertica/bin/validators.sh: command not found" .. see full output below [[email protected] ~]$ sudo /opt/vertica/sbin/install_vertica -s agg1,agg2,agg3 -r vertica-6.1.1-0.x86_64.RHEL5.rpm -u dbadmin Vertica Analytic Database 6.1.1-0 Installation Tool Starting installation tasks... Vertica recommends that you keep the system clock synchronized using NTP or some other time synchronization mechanism to keep all hosts synchronized. Time variances can cause (inconsistent) query results when using Date/Time Functions. • Hi Pete, thanks for checking in! We'll let you know if there is any documentation around this to make the effort a bit easier.
