Local backup

Hi, I am trying to work out a backup procedure. As copying data to a remote host (and thus restoring) would be a very lenghty process, my goal is to create a local backup, and export this backup via our usual tools (BackupPc for us). Local backup for me means that each host is its own backup destination. Trying to use vbr.py for this does not work out: the copy to the local host is a full copy done via scp, thus very lengthy and Is there any clever way to do this while using vbr.py? Thanks,
