Update Fails on Throughput checks

I'm trying to add a node to a running vertica cluster using update_vertica, however I'm getting this error: Network communication (FAILED) ---------------------------------- Echo server failed on host : ['reading random data', 'Host xx.xx.xx.xx experienced an error while listening: Address already in use', '\x1b]0;server@server:~\x1b\\'] Echo server failed on host server.server.server: ['\x1b]0;server@server:~\x1b\\'] I can't afford to take down my cluster right now, but I also desperately need more nodes added. Any help is appreciated.

I have been using this command: /opt/vertica/sbin/update_vertica -A servername -r /path-to/vertica-6.1.2-0.x86_64.RHEL5.rpm I used install_vertica as well with the same result.
