How to Monitor DB Designer Performance

How long should the db designer take to run on thye vmart example DB in the Community Edition. I am doing this on a the vm slice 64 bit running on Windows(running on AMD Phenom-II N620 dual core 2.8 GHz processor with 4 GB RAM) and it has been runnign for several hours. How can I monitor the progress of the db designer task to know where it stands?

out of the box with just the example database and default amount of data, it should not be taking hours. you might want to look at the v_monitor.design_status table to see whats going on: https://my.vertica.com/docs/6.1.x/HTML/index.htm#17547.htm
