NullReferenceException thrown out of VerticaCopyStream constructor

I am using Vertica ADO.NET API version 5.1.6 and every time I create new VerticaCopyStream object NullReferenceException is thrown. Checked input values being passed to the constructor and they are perfectly fine. Has anyone experienced similar issue? API bug?
