How to connect vertica db with pentaho bi and Kettle

In pentaho 5.0 (CE) user console, I see options to connect to various DBs(mysql, oracle etc) but vertica is not in that list. 1. How can I make Pentaho connect to star schema created in Vertica? 2. Does Pentaho know to create Vertica-compatible queries?

I think Vertica is not SQL92 compliant and therefore has no JDBC connection. Pentaho needs a JDBC connection (SQL92 compliant) to Vertica in order to use Vertica as a data source. 
Until Vertica is SQL92 compliant and it creates a JDBC driver that Pentaho can use, you probably can't use Vertica as a datasource for Pentaho.
