HCatalog Connector

Do we need to install anything specific to in Hadoop cluster? 
Does HCatalog Connector bring Hive data to vertica? or the data will be still in HDFS but it can accessed from Vertica.

Yes, data will be still in HDFS, but you can sync in vertica.

The HP Vertica HCatalogConnector has been tested with:

• HCatalog 0.5
• Hive 0.10 and 0.11
• Hadoop 2.0

Is the Vertica HCatalog Connector available in Vertica 6.1, or is it something that is only available in Vertica 7 ?
