Using soft link to install vertica
we are trying to install vertica on /opt/vertica which is soft link. the installation failed because during the install it searches for dir /opt/vertica with the permission 755. is there any alternate way that i continue my install or the only option is to remove soft link and have the DIR /opt/vertica and continue my install

No, there are no supported ways to install Vertica while using a soft link. This has not been tested by our QA department, and modifying any installation scripts would make your system unsupportable. We suggest you run the supported installation script using the correct methods, which are listed here:
