Backward compatibility of Management console 7.1 — Vertica Forum

Backward compatibility of Management console 7.1

Hello all,

I am trying to use MC 7.1 to monitor my database which is v7.0.-4. I get following error while importing the database-
org.apache.commons.dbcp.SQLNestedException: Cannot create PoolableConnectionFactory ([Vertica][VJDBC](5273) FATAL: Unsupported frontend protocol 3.5: server supports 3.0 to 3.4) at org.apache.commons.dbcp.BasicDataSource.createPoolableConnectionFactory(BasicDataSource.java:1549) at org.apache.commons.dbcp.BasicDataSource.createDataSource(BasicDataSource.java:1388) at org.apache.commons.dbcp.BasicDataSource.getConnection(BasicDataSource.java:1044)

Is MC 7.1 not backward compatible to database versions prior to 7.1?

Thanks,
Rupendra

  • Hello Rupendra,

You are correct - the 7.1 MC is not backward compatible with older Vertica versions. You will need to use the 7.0 Management Console to monitor your 7.0 Vertica.

    Thanks,
    Rory
  • Thanks Rory for quick response.
  • Hello Rupendra,

    You're welcome!

    Thanks,
    Rory
  • Hi Rupendra,

We are aware of this -- Please stay tuned for MC upgrades.
