Vertica Nodes stuck in initialization state after upgrading vertica from 7.0 to 7.1

I did the following 2 activities on my 3 node cluster:
1. Upgraded vertica from 7.0 to 7.1
2. Tried to add a 4th node to the cluster

After adding the node the node did not come up. So I pulled back and removed the node using update_vertica command

The node did not get removed.

On restarting Vertica it is stuck in Initialization state.

There are no errors reported by the vertica.log or the dbLog

Is other 3 nodes up and running? And If I understand only node4 stuck in initialization state? If node4 shows up in the results of "select * from nodes" then you need to bring it down first using admintools. Remove node4 from database first via admintools. Once removed from database then you can remove from cluster with update_vertica.

Note:  You can't remove node4 from the cluster until you have removed from the database.
