7.0.2-2 AMI from Marketplace does not include EBS RAID volume as described in the docs

The Using Vertica Analytics Platform on AWS docs include this paragraph on page 16 (Configuring and Launching an Instance item #6):

Note: As you click through, make no changes to the Add Storage screen, which shows

eight EBS volumes. Do not change the settings on this screen (e.g., do not add or delete

disks or the RAID array already set-up for you will be destroyed)

The current Marketplace image contains NO additional EBS volumes as described.  I know I can configure some myself, but the whole point of using your AMI, which is the only one supported by HP in AWS, is to have it completely configured.  I also find that the supposed 15GB OS volume is actually only 7.9G.

Hi John, need info about the doc you referenced, do not see that section in the HP Vertica 7.0.x on Amazon Web Services guide found here, http://my.vertica.com/docs/Ecosystem/Amazon/HP_Vertica_7.0.x_Vertica_AWS.pdf

The link to the AWS docs on this page currently does not work:

but the tarball here:

includes a document as of 7/21/2014 which includes a whole section on the EBS volumes as page 9.  Since HP has decided to ONLY support the official Marketplace AMI, but you can't keep straight what that AMI will include.

Hi John, thanks for the info.  The doc in the zip file is as you noted 7/21 but the doc I referenced is dated 8/20.  Will check to see if we can update the zip and also the link that does not work.

Its hard to know what size EBS volumes users want (550 GB, 1TB...10TB). Some prefer instance storage ( and do not want EBS storage at all). one size does not fit all.
Consequently EBS volumes are not included.

you might find this file useful as a starting point when you do configure the volumes.
/opt/vertica/sbin/configure_aws_software_raid.sh

I believe this is also something you can configure thru the AWS console wizard when you create an instance. I suspect AWS Marketplace trims it down to save space which users can extend depending on their need.
