vertica 7.1 installation failed and come up with error that "Error running /opt/vertica/share/binlib

I install vertica 7.1 for our team and find that there was a strange error when I install the vertica.

it is as follows:
WARN (S0170): https://my.vertica.com/docs/7.1.x/HTML/index.htm#cshid=S0170        lvscan (LVM utility) indicates some active volumes.
 FAIL (U0001): https://my.vertica.com/docs/7.1.x/HTML/index.htm#cshid=U0001
 Error running /opt/vertica/share/binlib/read/get-disks

what's the meaning of error running get-disks?

how can I solve it? please help me.

  • The error is pointing to the following documentation page that is indicating that LVMs are detected and that they are not supported by HP/Vertica -
    LVM Warning
HP Vertica does not support LVM (Logical Volume Manager) on any drive where database (catalog and data) files are stored. The installer reports this issue with the identifier: S0170.

  • hi Raul,

you mean FAIL (U0001) get disks is also because that we use lvm in redhat?

but I don't install the database in the lvm but an ext4 format disk.

  • The error message points to the documentation section that states -
HP Vertica does not support LVM (Logical Volume Manager) on any drive where database (catalog and data) files are stored.
Could you send the output of df -k as well as the full path to your data and catalog directories.
