Network Requirements for Vertica

Looking into Vertica documents I noticed that "Hewlett Packard recommends 10G networking over 1G networking in almost every situation".

I'd like to know if 10G networking is a mandatory requirement (required to have a supported product) or I can have a simple 1G networking for both: public network and private network.

    Hi Giorgio,

     

    It's my understanding that these are recommendations, not requirements. I can't see any reason to require more than 1G network connectivity if you'll never be using all of its throughput. It all depends on the workload.

     

    Also, since you mentioned "supported product", you could ask your sales contact or technical support via the support portal.
