Database not getting created after with License issue

Hello,

I have installed HP Vertica 7.2 in Ubuntu 14.4 recently and downloaded the Vertica 7.2 deb for community edition from my.vertica community edition downloads.

Post installation, when I am trying to create database, getting the below error asking for license.

dbadmin@Vertica:/opt/vertica/bin$ ./adminTools -t create_db -d testdb --hosts localhost
Info: no password specified, using none
Error: a database license has not been installed.
You must supply a valid license using the -l (--license) option.

Please help me resolve it

TIA

Sandeep

  • Hello Sandeep,

    Thanks for your comment.

Have you run admintools with the "dialog" GUI option (admintools with no arguments)? This will walk you through the EULA acceptance an installing the community edition license. I think that should help you with this issue.

Additionally, if you need to find the community edition license for some reason, you can find it here in the vertica installation directory:

    /opt/vertica/config/licensing/vertica_community_edition.license.key

Please let me know if you ahve additional questions.

    Jason
