Vertica equivalent of oracle sql%rowcount

Is it possible to get rows processed after an insert or update in vertica? My use case is to save number of records processed after each step in an ETL script to an audit table. In oracle , this can be achieved by using sql%rowcount. 

 

In my research so far , I have found that this can be done if query profiling is enabled using execution profile engines system table. Its not practical to add profiling for every query and every time it runs so trying to find if anyone has solved it differently.
