Vertica encryption in motion

Does anyone know if the communication between the vertica nodes is encrypted?  If it is not by default is there a way to encrypt the data communication between the nodes.  The client encryption is straightforward, but I have security requirements that requires all the data is encrypted in motion.

First, Vertica officially does not encrypt data at rest. Currently Vertica does not natively provide any encryption at the storage or network layer. We do encode and compress data loaded into the database, so the files on disk typically have little meaning as seen. Doesn't qualify as official encryption, but it does give some level of data security.
