System tables and DC tables — Vertica Forum

System tables and DC tables

Hello all,

I am having one basic doubt that  how DC tables differ for its system tables. I mean, how

dc_execution_engine_profiles differ from v_monitor.execution_engine_profiles table?

it seeems both has same near count of rows. and of course i am aware than Dc tables will have some more useful columns that v_monitor tables.

Though I jst wanted to know the anyother major difference and when to use each execlusively.

Thanks,

Raj

DC tables are actual tables, which hold data

v_monitor objects are views. In most cases they query DC tables.

As far as I know not every DC table has corresponding view.

Plus some views can join several DC tables.

So there is no one to one relationship between those.
