sql on hadoop client driver

Does sql on hadoop use the same client driver (jdbd odbc) and support the same SQL as "standard" vertica enterprise?  Would client applications (e.g. Tableau) be indifferent as to whether the underlying engine was Hadoop vs. native vertica?
