Vertica on VMWare with unsupported AMD CPU

Hi

I started installing Vertica 7.1 on a VMWare VM (Ubuntu) that has AMD K10 CPU's.

During installation we got the following error:

CPU not supported!

Starting Machine Check Exceptions decoder: CPU is unsupported

Valid CPUs: generic p6old core2 k8 p4 dunnington xeon74xx xeon7400 xeon5500 xeon5200 xeon5000 xeon5100 xeon3100 xeon3200 core_i7 core_i5 core_i3 nehalem westmere xeon71xx xeon7100 tulsa intel xeon75xx xeon7500 xeon7200 xeon7100 sandybridge sandybridge-ep ivybridge ivybridge-ep ivybridge-ex haswell

Current CPU: AMD K10

vendor_id       : AuthenticAMD

Does anybody know if there is any workaround that we can use to install Vertica on this VM? Is there another version that supports K10?

Many thanks!

Note ******

I just find out this is because AMD does not support mcelog on recent CPU's anymore. Instead they should be using the edac_mce_amd module.

Does Vertica support using this module? Or does it REALLY need to have mcelog working?
