install vertica on SSD drive

Anybody have experience on installing vertica on SSD drive, we currently have pretty high IO load so thinking about moving to SSD drive, however, from HP document
Due to the heavy compression/encoding that Vertica performs, you do not need to use solid-state drives (SSDs). To satisfy Vertica requirements, a RAID array of more, less expensive hard disk drives (HDDs) works just as well as a RAID array of fewer SSDs.
Does this mean that the SSD would harm the performance of Vertica?

Hi,
What do you mean by "we currently have pretty high IO load"?
We have "Validation Scripts" that you can use to test your environment,
See:
https://my.vertica.com/docs/8.1.x/HTML/index.htm#Authoring/InstallationGuide/scripts/ValidationScripts.htm
Anyway, SSDs are fine. The point of the docs is say you don't need 'em cause even if you max out your I/O you can still be limited by CPU,
... and memory
