In Vertica 8.1.1-6 there are some catalog-related issues that can affect performance. We recommend you update to 8.1.1-9 or later as soon as possible.

This issues only 8.1.1-6 ? I have 8.1.1-8 in prod, Do I need to update?

@sergey_h - The fix is in Vertica 8.1.1-9. So if using Vertica 8.1.1-8, you can potentially encounter this issue where you'll see a sudden drop in performance after the database is UP for few days.

The actual fix is labeled as "VER-58838 / Catalog Engine / The Vertica garbage collector algorithm has been modified to prevent query slowdown."

Jim - what version is the original issue in? If you're running a version prior to 8.1.1.6 (like 8.1.1.2) do you need to upgrade?

The "issue" was introduced in 8.1.1-6. So 8.1.1-2 is okay. But when upgrading, make sure to upgrade to at least 8.1.1-9, where the "issue" was rectified.
