Vertica Disk Sharing
Hey guys
I would like to ask a question regarding the administration of the disk used by the Vertica cluster.
Can I use a single disk of data from a storage in a data center and share it with the three nodes?
Thank you

Hi,
Ideally, yes this is possible to have as the parent directory remains different for all 3 nodes.
But you should also consider the demerits of having such task is that I/O latency will be very high in your case and system performance will be very slow.
You can use it for practise purpose or very low traffic Lab system but not as a production system.
This will also be against the best practises of vertica but yes it should be possible to have.

Check the doc page "Prepare Disk Storage Locations" here:
In particular:
Do not use a shared directory for more than one node. Data and catalog directories must be distinct for each node. Multiple nodes must not be allowed to write to the same data or catalog directory.
