MC outside the cluster

Hi!
Is there any way to install MC outside the cluster nodes?
Because in step 3 of the installer I have to enter catalog path and data path. But I don't get why? My cluster runs on other hosts.
The only mention that MC can be installed outside the cluster is here, but there is no documentation on this

Hello,
Yes you can install it on a different machine, it's even recommended for production environments (of course you need to make sure firewall is disabled and /or ports are open)
You can leave the default in step 3
Once your MC is installed you can import an existing cluster by folloving the steps described here: https://www.vertica.com/docs/9.2.x/HTML/Content/Authoring/ManagementConsole/ManagingDatabaseClusters/ImportExistingDatabaseIntoMC.htm
