Checks to perform before downscaling an Eon Mode database?

Are there any metrics that can be checked to ensure no failures before downscaling the cluster?

Without subcluster it is not easy to ensure no failures because any session can participate in the nodes that going to be shutdown. A workaround is the mark those nodes as ephemeral and wait for no activities on these nodes, before shutting them down.
