FCSVPARSER - FLEX only or not?

The manual says:

FCSVPARSER - this parser is for use in Flex tables only.

but it actually works with columnar tables too. So is there actually a limitation or not? And if so, what am I missing, when using it with columnar tables? Like I said, it seems to work just fine with columnar tables.
