Vertica.log file is not rotating

A vertica.log file has grown very large, and covers many days; the vertica.log file is not being rotated by 'logrotate'

Comments

  • Verify that the logrotate package is installed: yum list logrotate If installed, the output will show 'installed'. As root or using sudo, execute /usr/sbin/logrotate -dv /etc/logrotate.conf The output will show any errors encountered by logrotate. It is possible for a logrotate script executing prior to vertica's logrotate script to interfere with the vertica script. The following files contain the rest of the configuration for the Vertica log rotation: A. System log rotate configuration: /etc/cron.daily/logrotate, /etc/logrotate.conf B. Link to Vertica log rotation: /etc/logrotate.d/vertica C. Files in the directory /opt/vertica/config/logrotate: agent.logrotate spread_daemon.logrotate where is the name of the database you created on the cluster. The logrotate Unix manual page (man 8 logrotate) describes how to interpret the contents of these files.
