In Vertica 6.1 if you install a single node, the –T option is not allowed. No matter whether this node is part of cluster or standalone. The following msg is reported: Adding node: /opt/vertica/sbin/install_vertica -d /u:01/dbadmin -T -Q -Y -r /tmp/vertica-6.1.0-0.x86_64.RHEL5.rpm -L /SOP_Automation/vertica6/license.key -p $dba_password -P $root_password -s 10.7.197.81 Vertica Analytic Database 6.1.0-0 Installation Tool Upgrading admintools meta data format.. scanning /opt/vertica/config/users ERROR: -T cannot be used for single node installations Installation completed with errors. • Hi Peter, thanks for reporting this! We'll look into it and see if there is a comparable command or work around.
  • Hi Peter, The "-T" option controls whether the nodes in the new cluster created by this call to install_vertica, will communicate via broadcast or by point-to-point communication. If you're installing a single node, that node is not yet talking to any other nodes. So there's no communication; neither broadcast nor point-to-point communication applies. I believe Vertica 5 simply ignored the option; Vertica 6 is more careful about validating installer options. Perhaps you could discuss what you're specifically trying to do with "-T"? Adam
