Error connecting to Vertica from Cognos

Hi, I have IBM Cognos BI 10.1.1 64-bit installed in a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine and when trying to connect to the Vertica server by "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe", it returns the following error: "The setup routines for the Vertica ODBC Driver could not be loaded due to system error code 14001: The application failed to start because side-by-side configurantion is incorrect. Please see the aplication event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail.(C:\Program Files\Vertica\Systems\lib\vertica_6.0_odbc_3.5.dll)." When connected by "C:\Windows\System32\odbcad32.exe" operates normally, but, the Cognos uses the driver 64 bits.

Hi David Sorry for the trouble. It sounds like the ODBC installer failed to install some 32-bit dependencies on your system. I think you can fix this by installing the Microsoft 32-bit Visual C++ 2008 SP1 redistributable package. You can download it here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5582 After installing, both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the ODBC Administration dialog should work properly. Thank you, Worked properly! Note: “C:\Program Files\Vertica Systems\JDBC\vertica-jdk5-6.0.1-0.jar" to "Program Files\ibm\cognos\c10_64\webapps\p2pd\WEB-INF\lib"
