How can I recover from "the database configuration is locked out due to previous error."

I got this error when creating a sub cluster with no more details and after that all operations on the database are failing with the same error "Failed to create job. Not able to acquire lock. Either another operation is running or the database configuration is locked out due to previous error."

How are you creating the subcluster? If using admintools, check the log file /opt/vertica/log/admintools.log. If using MC, it should provide more details in the UI, but yo can also check /opt/vconsole/log/mc/mconsole.log for more details. Open a support case if possible since this is not a common event.
