vertica not accepting remote connections

Hi! I've installed vertica and created a db with host on 127.0.0.1 I've updated the auth list to include a remote IP address I've updated my firewall to allow remote connections to the vertica server. For some reason I cannot connect from my remote application server to vertica on port 5433 tcpdump shows packets flowing from app to DB, but there's no connection established. I have both udp and tcp enabled on port 5433 What am I missing that will permit remote connections to this database? Thank you!
