FATAL 3781: Invalid username or password

I'm trying to connect to a vertica data base with vsql from my windows 7 machine.  Here is the command and the resulting error I'm getting:

 

C:\Program Files\Vertica Systems\bin>vsql -h shr2-vrt-pro-vglb1.houston.hp.com -
p 5433 -U <myusername> -w <mypassword> -C
vsql: FATAL 3781: Invalid username or password

 

But I know <myusername> and <mypassword> are correct because I can connect and perform a successful query using php with the same credentials and an ODBC driver. Toad Data Point also connects just fine on the same machine using an ODBC driver.  Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this issue?

    Well I figured it out.  The url was incorrect.  But what a crappy error in that case.  Couldn't it have given me something better?
